Face forward: The best facialists from 5th Avenue to the Pacific Northwest
February 2010
Some aestheticians dish out perfunctory service, but Jill Bucy fawned over us as though we were VIPs. She remedied our specific issues, going after our blackheads, using mild electrical pulses to work a few plant-based serums into our skin, and applying a mask with yeast, cucumber, and witch hazel to brighten. But the ultimate perk was a lengthy accupressure massage on our head, shoulders, and arms that left us feeling as balanced and refreshed as our skin. |
Our clients' words
Customer reviews are the best press we can get — and the most authentic way of learning about Jill Bucy Skincare.
Jill Bucy has completely changed my view on facials not to mention my complexion. — krisncolby
High class (no nickel-and-diming). The price is reasonable and they treat you like you're at a four-star spa. The location is discreet and convenient. But, the best part about Jill Bucy is the people. They are knowledgeable, personable, and fun! — Rachel K., Seattle
I love this place! I've finally found a place where I feel comfortable and am provided with casual yet excellent customer service. I adore Erica! I go to her once to twice a month at least for everything from pedi, mani and sugaring. I brought my family to her for all that as well as recommending my friends. They LOVE her too! People are friendly and they get to know their customers on a first name bases. I never felt rushed either. It's a cute place too. The perk of valet parking is FAB especially around QA area!
—Pui L., Seattle
This commendation is long overdue. I have visited your spa several times (each time I’m in Seattle, in fact) and have nothing but good things to say. Very good things, in fact. The last time I was there was on my way to Mexico in February. I stopped in for a pedicure going down, and a facial going back. Both were fabulous. The salon itself is luxurious, but retains an atmosphere of relaxed sophistication. The products are wonderful, and the “massage room” was the best!
But I save my highest praise for the staff. They are what set Jill Bucy apart from the rest. I’m always treated wonderfully well — everyone from the receptionist to the therapists to Jill herself creates a welcoming, casual, yet professional atmosphere.
So, before I start to froth at the mouth, let me summarize. My absolutely favourite spa, anywhere. — Victoria Boire, British Columbia
Yesterday I had the most phenomenal French facial at Jill Bucy Skin Care with head skincare therapist Taryn. I left feeling completely revived, both physically and emotionally. Taryn has an amazing level of expertise that is very obvious in her facial treatments. The skin care specialists have full CIDESCO (Comite International Desthetique et de Cosmetologie) training; the world’s most prestigious skin care qualification. The spa is located on the first floor of the MarQueen Hotel in the heart of Lower Queen Anne.
What an incredible experience this was. Pamper yourself and go check it out. You’ll be wondering why you don’t do this more often. — Susan Moore, Queen Anne Living Undressed blog
Francophiles of Seattle rejoice! We have a brand new French style salon inside of the MarQueen hotel in lower Queen Anne that will satiate your desire for all things French without leaving you jet lagged, covered in croissant crumbs, or wearing a silly beret." — Michelle B.
The whole experience is from heaven. It starts with a glass of cool water in their gorgeous salon lounge, and then an hour or so of soin totale elapses:
Nature-based emulsions and preparations applied to the skin, revitalizing massage, and the nicest estheticians on the planet. I had a deep cleanse facial yesterday and I'm still glowing like crazy.
I also had a pedicure and it was very nicely done, giving me hope it will last a lot longer than the strip mall pedis I've been getting. And, here's something revolutionary they did: They put my thong sandals on BEFORE they applied the polish. Einstein, move over! — Abigail Hamilton
I tried this with my sister two months ago. I really love what they did. They really do intensive facial skin care and massage. I am definitely sold to this one and will come back to experience more good stuff for my skin. — Ira G.
If you have not been to Jill Bucy you have not had a really great facial. I have gone to practically every spa in Seattle and nothing compares! From the impeccable decor to the insanely fabulous and worth-every-penny skincare products and lovely, well-trained staff Jill Bucy has managed to do what not many spas can — create an experience. GO! Simply fabulous! — Laura, Seattle

Best way to get your lymph in order
November/December 2009
Beware the Jill Bucy Skincare Classic French Facial! Once you experience this luxurious treatment at Lower Queen Anne’s chic boutique salon, all other facials will feel like a cold, wet washcloth. Sure, it has expert skin analysis, invigorating exfoliation and soothing masques, but what sets the salon head and shoulders above is the lymphatic massage (of nodes and neck) — especially as performed by aesthetician Erica — which is fantastically, hypnotically, fall-asleep-and-wake-yourself-up-snoring good. |
French face forward in Seattle
with Jill Bucy
September 23, 2009
Not a week after posting about Paris's beauty event Rives de la Beaute, we've found another reason to love Francophone beauty things... Jill Bucy spa in Seattle. Yes, you read that right... Seattle. This is one of the few places in America where 30-year old French beauty brand Biologique Recherche is available.
Get the same sort of treatments Parisiennes get at Jilly Bucy with her Classic French Facial, Advanced French Facial or 45-minute Vital Cleanse. After living in Paris and frequenting the tiny, local spa on Rue de Montorgueil, I know what it is to have a French facial treatment. Efficient and resulted-oriented (there was no music, no faff... just pure beauty treatment)... and I miss it. Other French beauty finds are available at Jilly Bucy as well, including Sothys Institute and Savon de Marseille.

Feel Great Now! All-natural, all-over was to destress, detoxify, and retune — May, 2009
Electric Lady Land
Treatment Plan ~ Advanced French Facial. They don’t slough away layers of skin at Jill Bucy Skincare. Au contraire, the salon’s nonsurgical “face-lift” uses mild electrical current to build up skin and work in plant-based serums, toners, and moisturizers (from France, naturellement), all accompanied by soothing classical music in rooms lit with chandeliers that might have come from Marie Antoinette’s estate sale.
Feel-Good Factor ~ Jill Bucy discovered the secrets of French skin care on a trip to Europe after graduating from a Kirkland high school. Clients once guarded Bucy’s name as closely as a Parisian beauty secret, but her salon in the Marqueen Hotel makes the tingly galvanic machine facial—and glowing, youthful skin—available to the rest of us. $390 for 90-minute machine facial plus three machine-only follow-ups. |

Best Place to Save Face
December, 2008
Fluffy-facial haters, get thee to skincare queen Jill Bucy, whose adoration of all things French translates in her impossibly effective (though admittedly pricey) advanced French facials (as much as $250 a pop). Following the expert skin analysis, cleansing, steaming, extractions and custom masque is a bout with the remodeling machine, which uses tiny electrical pulses to tighten skin and kill bacteria, and is enough to take your skin from — we can’t resist — drab to fab. |

Saving Face:
Jill Bucy Deals in Tried and True Parisian Skin Care
September, 2008
"Our spa is treatment-oriented French skin care, so it isn't fluffy facials," says Jill Bucy, owner of Jill BucySkincare. Skin care is serious business at her spa (Bucy is passionate about educating clients in the skin care methods she swears by), but not the least bit intimidating. The staff is knowledgeable but sweet, and the charming, petite French-inspired interior, which Bucy decorated herself, is beautifully done.

Jill Bucy Skincare has beauty down to a science in Lower Queen Anne
June 6, 2008
The salon's practice is grounded in physiology and natural products ~ How do you say "ahhh" in French? "Mon Dieu! C'est tres magnifique," will do nicely. And it's exactly the phrase you will utter after a visit to Seattle aesthetician Jill Bucy's new Lower Queen Ann skin care salon, which offers a variety of services, from French facials and massages to nail treatments and waxing.
The thoroughly French interior inside the historic 1918 MarQueen Hotel transports one to a Parisian atelier replete with turn-of-the-century crown molding, wrought iron and crystal chandeliers, chic gray walls, crème-colored leather seating and special touches like a mirror with an ornate white plaster-of-Paris frame. Bucy opened the spa last November.
She and her team of therapists (aka aestheticians) pride themselves on being graduates of CIDESCO, an internationally recognized program of skin care that originated in Zurich and requires students to have a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology and chemistry. Best Face Forward
April 4, 2008
We watch the red carpet events in total and complete awe of the flawless, translucent skin that the stars possess. How do they accomplish such a feat? Sure, our skincare routine has improved since high school, when we regularly slathered our faces with Oxy pads, but to get to that next level, we are in need of a guru—a skincare guru.
Ladies and gents, we have found her—our new skincare guru—at Jill Bucy Skincare. And let us just say that she has changed our lives.
